President George W. Bush signed the No Child Left Behind (NCLB) Act into law on January 8, 2002. This legislation mandates each state to implement a plan to account for the academic success of all students. The Pennsylvania System of School Assessment (PSSA) is the core component to the Pennsylvania plan for NCLB. These two programs challenge every school district to ensure the success of their students.
The Parkland School District mission statement strives to ensure the academic, social, emotional and physical success of each student in our district. The Parkland community, the Board of School Directors, the administration, the staff and parents all work collaboratively to this end. Life Long Learning and student success remain the paramount goals of the district.
